Industrial Pumps & Filtration
Ballard Industrial supplies industrial pumps, parts, and repair kits for transfer, wastewater, sanitary, and chemical applications across the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Shop air-operated diaphragm, centrifugal, submersible, peristaltic, piston, and sanitary pumps from ARO, Barmesa, AMT, Q-Pump and more. Need help sizing a pump or rebuilding one you already own? Our Seattle team and factory-certified technicians can help.
Choosing the right industrial pump
The right pump depends on what you're moving, how thick or abrasive it is, and where the pump will run. Use this as a starting point, then call us to confirm sizing and materials.
| Pump type | Best for | Typical fluids | Key advantage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air-operated diaphragm (AODD) | Transfer where electricity is unsafe or unavailable | Solvents, acids, slurries, paints, fluids with solids | Runs dry and deadheads without damage; no motor |
| End-suction centrifugal | Continuous, high-volume water transfer | Water, thin process fluids | Simple, efficient, low maintenance |
| Vertical multi-stage | Pressure boosting, wash-down, boiler feed | Clean water | High pressure in a small footprint |
| Submersible | Sumps, dewatering, sewage and wastewater lift | Wastewater, effluent, water with solids | Installs in the liquid; no priming |
| Sanitary | Food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical | Product, CIP solutions | 316L stainless; cleanable design |
| Peristaltic | Metering and dosing | Shear-sensitive, abrasive, or corrosive fluids | Fluid touches only the hose |
| Piston | High-pressure dispensing | Grease, oils, sealants, viscous materials | Moves heavy materials at high pressure |

FAQ
What's the difference between a diaphragm pump and a centrifugal pump?
A centrifugal pump uses a spinning impeller and is best for high-volume transfer of thin fluids like water. An air-operated diaphragm pump uses compressed air to move flexible diaphragms,
so it handles viscous, abrasive, or solids-laden fluids, can run dry, and has no electric motor.
Can you rebuild my existing ARO pump?
Yes. As an ARO authorized service center, our factory-certified technicians rebuild and repair ARO diaphragm and piston pumps, and we stock ARO repair kits and parts.
Which pump should I use for a sump or wastewater application?
Submersible pumps are the usual choice because they sit in the liquid and don't need priming. Barmesa offers sump, effluent, and sewage models sized by flow, head, and solids handling.
What makes a pump "sanitary"?
Sanitary pumps use polished stainless steel, typically 316L on product-contact surfaces, with a design that can be cleaned in place and meets food and beverage hygiene standards.
Do you deliver pumps outside Seattle?
Yes. We are able to deliver some of our pumps to the areas surrounding Seattle. Delivery may be free or paid depending on your exact location and the complexity of your solution.
