SENTRY™ Pulsation Dampeners/Surge Suppressors

The terms pulsation dampener and surge suppressor are two ways of describing the same device depending on how it's used.

When positive displacement pumps start and stop they cause the fluid to speed up and slow down quickly creating pressure spikes and pulses. Pulsation dampeners help smooth out these spikes by absorbing the energy and releasing it gradually which reduces vibrations and keeps the flow steady.

Water hammer or hydraulic shock happens when the fluid suddenly changes direction or speed like when valves close too quickly or pumps start or stop too fast. This can cause damaging shock waves. Surge suppressors help by cushioning these shocks and controlling the changes in fluid speed to prevent damage.

In simpler terms these devices:
